BLETCHLEY PARK

On Monday the 3rd of February 2020, we left the school at 9:30am to head to our destination of Bletchley Park in the hope of learning exciting, historical facts. We arrived at Milton Keynes at 10:30am and were split into 5 different groups. Then, in our groups, we went to different huts which all contained facts, information and items from the war. Through the use of videos, written information and knowledgeable tour guides, we found out a lot of new and interesting information. After we went to the engrossing mansion and huts, we had our tasty lunch and a well-needed break!

Then, we went on a tour with an expert who told us the history of Bletchley park and facts about the code breakers who worked there. The tour was based outside mainly, so luckily the sun was shining and it wasn’t too cold!

Later that afternoon, we went to another hut and had a lot of fun in there as well; it was a workshop where we had to listen to messages in morse code and try decipher them. The workers had to listen so carefully – their jobs were so important! The lady who lead the workshop treated us like actual workers from WWII – we even had to sign a secrecy form, just like the code breakers did!

After a fantastic day, we headed back to school with our heads full of knew knowledge!

Overall, we had a great experience and will treasure the lovely day forever!
