WORLD BOOK DAY 2024

On 7th March it was World Book Day and the children, and staff, joined in with children all over the country dressing up as their favourite characters to mark the day.

Did you know World Book Day was created by UNESCO on 23rd April 1995 as a worldwide celebration of books and reading. It is marked in over 100 countries around the globe. The first World Book Day in the UK and Ireland took place in 1997 to encourage young people to discover the pleasure of reading.

We are so lucky in our area of Bedford to have Putnoe Library who run some lovely activities including their Summer Reading challenge - https://readingagency.org.uk/the-summer-reading-challenges-marvellous-makers-theme-celebrates-childrens-creativity/?fbclid=IwAR1QVgr_6tNHiiG_yn-9kd-mHEnAp73N96D-WxDOwLRa5oEe6YCgX57fHMM

At Hills we also have the book exchange on the playground next to the reception garden where you can bring a book, take a book or both!  So, with all af these options, even if you don't have a book at home there is definitely no excuse not to read :)
