Welcome to year 1

A big welcome as our new adventures begin in Year 1

Welcome to Year 1!

What a lot of fun we have had settling into our new classrooms and getting to know our new teachers.

Ready to learn week was lots of fun. We played with the parachute in the hall and played lots of games which involved us learning what we like, dislike and how to move safely. On Tuesday, we had some bears turn up in the classroom, and we needed to think about what stories we know about bears. They were the bears from Peace at Last, which we used to help us write in English.

In maths, we have been learning about place value and understanding that every number is made of ones or tens, making these numbers using cubes, dienes, beads and objects. We have been counting forwards and backwards to 20 lots!

We also got to try some junk modelling, and we were able to work as teams to create our own sculptures. We had lots of fun and the classrooms were super messy! Luckily, we are very good at tidying up!

We have also participated in leadership training, and we got to play lots of really cool games on the playground with the Year Six children.

We can’t wait to see what October brings! To view the photos, go and see our Year 1 Gallery!
