EASTER ACTIVITIES - VASKRS

The children in Reception enjoyed learning from Mrs M all about how her family celebrate Easter.  She explained that decorating eggs is a tradition done in the Christian Orthodox Church to celebrate Easter.  It is a tradition that many children in/from Eastern Europe enjoy doing with their families.  When they are finished eggs are then taken to the church to be blessed and then taken home where they are used in a competition with family and friends to see who’s egg is the strongest.  This is done by knocking them against each other.

The Saturday before Easter the children go to their gardens and gather grass to make a nest for the Easter bunny then on Easter Sunday their nests will be full of treats left by the bunny for the children to enjoy.

They even had a go at decorating their own eggs using a special egg dye, look at the photos of their creations 😊
