LEARNING AN INSTRUMENT AT THE HILLS ACADEMY.

It's been a quieter half term than usual in the Music Department due to the cancellation of choir, music assemblies and other group music activities, but fortunately music has still been happening and lifting spirits around the school.

Year groups have undertaken a half terms music curriculum in one week and have covered exciting topics like rap music, pop music and the history of Abba, rock music, and some scary music compositions were created in time for Halloween from the year 6 bubbles.
Thankfully due to a purpose- built screen to keep safe, we have been able to continue with our instrumental tuition from our visiting peri staff. We are lucky to offer a range of instruments from brass and woodwind, to strings, guitar and piano tuition.
There are still spaces for anyone keen to learn strings and brass, and a couple of slots available for woodwind. If you are interested in signing up, then please speak to your class teacher and a message will get to Mrs Frost who will supply a letter home. There is a charge for lessons and you will need your own instrument to practise and play on between lessons. These can be hired from Bedford Borough.
We look forward to resuming extra-curricular activities as soon as it is safe to do so.

The teachers that come into school to teach music are:
Mrs Schofield - Brass Teacher
Mrs Sutherland - Piano Teacher
Mrs Waters - String Teacher
Mr Knight - Guitar and cello Teacher
Mrs Frost - Woodwind Teacher
