Welcome to Reception!

Our First few weeks at The Hills!
During our first few weeks, we have been spending time getting to know each other by sharing our ‘All about Me’ bags that we brought in to tell our friends all about us and the things that we like. We have also been playing and making lots of new friends! We particularly enjoyed playing in our garden, running around the track every day and joining in with dough disco. This is something that we do every day to make our fingers stronger, ready for writing!
We enjoyed listening to the story ‘Pete the Cat, rocking in my School Shoes’ and learning our classroom routine and rules. Pete left us a letter and challenged us to draw a portrait of ourselves. We thought carefully about the features of our bodies, and we realised that we do not look like potato heads!
We celebrated ‘International Dot Day’ by listening to story, ‘The Dot’. We participated in a whole school art activity to create a collaborative piece of art using dots. We used different tones of pink to create our dots.
We started our Computing lessons with Mrs Williams. We learned all about what technology is and we discovered that it is all around us! She brought in some technology toys for us to play with which we had fun with. In our second lesson, she took us to the computer room, and we met the Beebots! We loved taking it in turns to programme the Beebots to make them move by programming it with the buttons!
