Week beginning 6th May

Hello and welcome back to our blog. This week we have started our ‘Water’ topic. The children have been answering the question ‘why do we need water?’ and have come up with lots of lovely ideas such as: ‘To keep our bodies clean’ , ‘So that the fish in the sea can live’ and ‘ To keep us healthy in the hot weather’. We have continued with our presentations this week and the children have spoken clearly and confidently to their friends. We look forward to the next six children’s presentations next week. In mathematics, we have been continuing our work on addition and subtraction and the children have been using unifix blocks to add two groups together and for taking one group of blocks away from another. We have had our class photographs taken today so were practicing our smiles this morning. If you have time over the weekend, it would be great if you could talk to your children about our new topic and write down any fascinating facts they may have! We hope you have a lovely weekend

Walk like an Egyptian!

Hello eveyone - Izauko! The children have been learning all about Egypt this week. We have had lots of fun making Egyptian collars and have worked very hard to make patterns on Egyptian mummies! We have been writing sentences about the many different facts we have found out about the world - including: 'The Great wall of China is the oldest and longest wall in the World' / 'The Whitehouse is in America' / 'The United Kingdom is made up of four countries, England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales' In maths we have been thinking about simple addition and subtraction. It would be fantastic if over the weekend you could talk with your child about addition and maybe even have a go at some simple number sentences such as 4+3= / 5+5= / 10+6=  or 9+5= Have a fantastic (and hopefully sunny!) long weekend and we will see you on Tuesday

Week ending Friday 22nd March

Hello! This week we have been busy counting in 2's, 5's and 10's in Mathematics. We enjoyed using shoes and socks to count in pairs. In phonics, we have been continuing to write sentences and practice our 'sound buddies' - 'ai' and 'zz'. We have also been working hard on writing the inserts for our Easter cards - we're sure you'll be impressed with our very neat writing! In PE, we have been practicing travelling and bouncing and hittig with a bat. The children are getting really confident at this now. Today we had a visit from 'Flynn the Bin'. He told us all about recycling and we talked about the reasons why we should not throw litter on the ground. We are all very excited about our visitor - 'The Bug Man'!!! We will tell you all about it in next weeks blog! Unfortunately, we are unable to put any photos on our blog at the moment due to an ongoing technical issue. We hope to have this sorted before the end of tem! Have a good weekend, hopefully we will get some 'spring' weather!

Week ending Friday 15th February

Hello! It's really hard to believe that we are already at half-term, the weeks just seem to fly! Thank-you to you all for attending the parent consultations, it is always a privilege to be able to share the children's achievements with you and the information you pass on to us does really help us to gain a holistic view of your child. We have been very active this week and have been practising both our ball skills and tennis skills with the Riverside Tennis Club! We have also had Mrs. Follano share her collection of rare and antique teddy bears with us and the children have been able to handle them too. We have enjoyed writing Valentines cards for the people we love (or our friends who we like very much!) and found out the reasons why we call it Valentine’s day. I’m sure your children will be able to tell you a fact or two about it! Have a great half-term holiday with your children and we look forward to seeing you back in school on Monday 25th February!
